Measurement of the energy dependence of the neutron fission cross section of 242Am/sup m/
Description
Measurements were made of the cross section for 242Am/sup m/ fission induced by neutrons in the energy range 0.04< or =E/sub n/< or =4.52 MeV as well as by neutrons with E/sub n/roughly-equal14.8 MeV. An electrostatic generator and a low-voltage accelerating tube were used to generate the quasimonochromatic neutrons. Measurements in the low-energy region were made by using the time-of-flight technique in neutrons from a nuclear explosion. Results of the measurements are compared with previously published data
