Description

The application of contrast agents in neutron radiography (NR) aims to give more details in the object image such as corrosion and cracks, by increasing or decreasing the radiographic contrast. This paper describes the use of contrast agents such as cadmium nitrate (Cd(NO sub(3)) sub(2)) and boron nitride (BN) on aluminium samples from aircraft structures. Studies have been carried out in order to use a gadolinium-based chelate, which, we expect, will give better results, as radiographic contrast is concerned. (author)
