Description

The fragmentation without neutron emission (cold fragmentations) have been investigated using a twin-axial gridded ionization chamber, for thermal neutron induced fission of 235U. The kinetic energies of both fragments have been measured, and the fragment charges have been determined with a precision of Z/ΔZ=45. The results show, for a given charge split, no even-odd effect in mass yield. The division for a given mass fragmentation is mainly governed by the splitting which maximises the energy released.
