Description
The first five excited levels in 55Mn were studied by means of Coulomb excitation by alpha particles varying in energy from 5–7 MeV. The Coulomb character of these levels in 55Mn was confirmed by comparing thick target yields to the theoretical predictions. The reduced E2 transition probabilities B(E2)↑ were obtained for these five levels from thick target yields. The gamma–gamma coincidences were measured to identify cascade gamma transitions and branching ratios. The experimentally found B(E2)↑ values were compared with the theoretical calculations of two different authors.
