Initiation of blisters in 18-10 type austenitic stainless steels

Description
Metallographic and electrochemical investigations were made on the resistance of the metals to blistering. The obtained results show the initial influence of the type of inclusions, and the secondary influences of the matrix composition, heat treatments and thermomechanical treatments carried out the metal. In order to discuss these results, various techniques were used to study the properties of inclusions, and matrix: chemical analysis, scanning microscopy, ion microprobe analysis
Abstract (French)
On a etudie par metallographie et par voie electrochimique la resistance du metal a l'amorcage des piqures. Les resultats obtenus mettent en evidence l'influence primordiale de la nature des inclusions et les influences secondaires de la composition de la matrice, des traitements thermiques ou thermo-mecaniques subis par le metal.
