On permission of change of business of Japan Nuclear Fuel Co. processing nuclear fuel substances
Description
Nuclear Safety Commission made the report to the prime minister on this change which was inquired on June 26, 1995, after the prudent deliberation. As the results of the deliberation, it was recognized that the part of the technical capability in the application of the relevant laws is appropriate, and the results of safety examination by the expert examination committee on nuclear fuel safety are as shown in the attached paper, which were recognized as appropriate. As the results of the investigation and deliberation, it was judged that the safety after the change of this facility can be secured. The course of investigation and deliberation is described. As to the change, in No. 2 processing building, in order to make the downstream processes into main force, 2 sets each of the assembling facilities and the inspection facilities for fuel assemblies are transferred from No. 1 processing building, and 1 set each of fuel rod collection device, helium leak inspector, fuel assembly inspection equipment and packaging equipment are newly installed. In No. 1 uranium recovery room, the dry type recovery facility is renewed. The preservation and abandonment capacity of the waste facility is increased. The contents of the investigation and deliberation are reported. (K.I.)
