Atomic process in electro-magnetically driven strong shock wave

Description
The structure of a strong shock wave, in which ion-electron energy transfer and ionization relaxation process, radiation effect and their interaction play an important role, is discussed. We drive strong shock wave in a compact pulse power device with a pair of conical electrodes. A guiding tube placed on the electrode allows us to assume steady and planar shock condition. We show that this study has a potential to evaluate the precursor temperature and the radiative flux behind shock wave from comparison of experimental results with numerical calculations under a well-defined condition.
