Improvement of blood supply of the lungs after radiotherapy of bronchial carcinoma

  • 1. Leningradskij Inst. Usovershenstvovaniya Vrachej (USSR)

Description

Result of comprehensive clinico-radiological examination of 106 patients with bronchial carcinoma of whom 56 were examined after radiotherapy were presented. A quantitative evaluation of scannograms was made with calculation of the perfusion index for the entire lung and its different parts. Differences between the perfusion indices of healthy individuals and of patients with bronchial carcinoma of the 2-4 stage appeared to be statistically significant that points to a considerable disorder in the blood supply of the lungs in this disease. Difference between the absolute values of the perfusion indices before and after radiotherapy was statistically insignificant. Therefore, despite a definite effect, radiotherapy did not cause any considerable restoration of the lung perfusion in the given group of patients
