Near-threshold electron-impact ionization cross section for sulfur atoms

  • 1. Institute of Electron Physics, Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, Universitetska 21, 88 017 Uzhgorod (Ukraine)

Description

A crossed electron and atomic beam scattering geometry was employed for the precise measuring of the ionization efficiency curve of sulfur atoms from the threshold up to 13.5eV. Three resonance features were revealed at the energies of 10.72, 11.19 and 11.69eV. An evident discrepancy between the threshold Wannier law and the data obtained was discussed from the point of view of autoionization contribution from the low-lying 3s23p3(2D0)3d P01 and 3s3p5P01 configurations
