Interdigital (Morton) neuroma
Description
This paper reports that the authors designed a study to determine the feasibility and accuracy of MR imaging performed with a solenoid local coil for the evaluation of patients with suspected interdigital neuromas. Fifteen patients (17 feet) with symptoms suggestive of interdigital neuroma were examined at 1.5 T with a solenoid forefoot coil having an 8-cm field of view. A standard protocol of T1-weighted oblique coronal and double-oblique axial images and T2-weighted oblique coronal images was used in 11 feet. In the remaining cases, the protocols varied; however, T1- and T2-weighted sequences were consistently obtained. Surgery was subsequently performed in 6 feet. MR imaging identified 15 interdigital masses, 5 of which were pathologically confirmed neuromas
