Hydrothermal gasification: a potential to be valorised

The author presents and comments hydrothermal gasification which is a high pressure and high temperature thermochemical process for the conversion of liquid organic wastes into gas, and which could contribute to the development of renewable gas in France because of its very high potential which could allow the 100 per cent renewable gas objective to be reached. The process is described which produces a methane-rich synthetic gas. Its theoretical potential of renewable methane production is quantitatively discussed with respect to different types of wastes (breeding effluents, sludge from waste water processing plants, methanisation digestates)
