Comment on open-quote open-quote Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka rule violation in the reaction bar pp→φπ0 close-quote close-quote
Description
The rescattering mechanism with K*bar K and bar K*K intermediate states gives a large enhancement for bar pp→φπ0 from initial S states. This is consistent with experimental data. The problem is why bar pp→φπ0 is not seen in the annihilation from initial P states. A recent paper suggested that possible destructive interference between l=0 and l=2 of the intermediate K*bar K system may be the reason. Here I argue that there is another more solid and important reason, i.e., the small total decay width of I=1 1P1 protonium. copyright 1996 The American Physical Society
