Nuclear reaction.s induced by fast neutrons
Description
A review is presented on various experimental and theoretical studies of neutron-induced reactions in the energy range 1-20 MeV. Accelerator-based monoergic and polyergic neutron sources and techniques for cross section measurements are described. A variety of examples based on the experimental results are discussed in terms of theoretical concepts such as multilevel analysis, isobaric spin impurity, optical model and direct, collective and preequilibrium processes. The systematics of fast neutron fission cross sections are also presented. A proposal for a white neutron source for VEC is discussed, as there is a considerable interest in both the fundamental and applied aspects of neutron physics. (auth.)
