Electron cooling experiments at TARN II
Description
Electron cooling experiments performed on light ion beams at INS are reported. As the cooling electron beam is a good electron target, it has also been used for the study of atomic physics. We aim to extend such studies to heavier ions and some machine developments towards heavy ion cooling have been made. In the text, the results of experiments so far achieved and the status of the heavy ion cooling are described. (author)
