Low-carbon hydrogen at the service of transition
Description
This article first proposes an overview of the major benefits of hydrogen for the European energy policy (due to its high energy power, its physical-chemical properties which provide it with plasticity and modularity). It discusses the issue of technologies to privileged to reach the climate neutrality objective by 2050, notices and discusses that hydrogen is still an important contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. It addresses the objectives of economy decarbonization and of balancing the electric power system: hydrogen decarbonization as a priority, hydrogen vehicles as a possible solutions to decarbonize transports (above all for heavy vehicles), hydrogen all the more useful to power system balancing since varying renewable sources have an important role in it. Propositions are formulated for each of these different issues
