Size distribution measurement of sub-micron radioactive aerosols using particle diffusion, (2)

Description
The particle size distribution is one of the most important characteristics that affect the dynamic behavior of radioactive aerosol in a nuclear power plant. A method is proposed for determining the size distribution of sub-micron aerosol using particle diffusion in a Nuclepore filter. The reliability of this method is experimentally confirmed with NaCl monodisperse particles generated by an electrical aerosol generator, and also the polydisperse aerosols size distribution obtained by this method is in good agreement with that obtained by an electrical mobility analyzer. A wide-range size-distribution monitoring system is also discussed for the purpose of practical use in a nuclear power plant. (author)
