Description
The reaction 32S + 58Ni at 11.1 MeV/u bombarding energy is studied using two large-area heavy-fragment detectors and twenty light-particle detectors. The kinematic analysis of the detected heavy fragments and the measured light-particle multiplicities prove the existence of two different types of exit channels which contain either two or three heavy fragments and additional light particles. These channels occur in the present experiment with a relative intensity of 32:1. The three-fragment channel appears to be the result of a prompt break-up process. (orig.)
