Description
A well-known geometric approach, using moving coordinate frames, is used to solve the problem of a classical minimal surface (or string) with emphasis on the case of a three-dimensional space-time. One finds that this latter problem is completely described (without supplementary conditions) by a non-linear equation which is solved explicitly. The problem of quantization in only sketched.
