Description
In order to explain the recently observed distortive transition in CeAg which occurs at a higher temperature than the magnetic one, a symmetry-adapted spin-Hamiltonian involving dipolar and quadrupolar interactions is given. The two successive phase transitions observed at low temperature in compounds like CeAg are reproduced in the molecular field approximation. (author)
