Description

The spectroscopic properties of Ag-phen-Tcnq, a new organic semiconductor obtained by means of charge transfer reaction involving silver as the electron donor, Tcnq as the acceptor and the etero-aromatic ligand 1,10 phenanthroline (phen), are investigated by means of absorption measurements in the IR-VIS-UV range and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). The charge distribution on Tcnq is examined and compared with that of AgTCNQ. The results indicate that the presence of phenanthroline lowers the electronic gap of the semiconductor enhancing its electrical conductivity with respects to that of AgTCNQ. The good electrical features and the film-forming properties of Ag-phen-Tcnq are used to obtain an inorganic-organic heterojunction whose I/V characteristics are examined
