Investigation of kinetics of electrode processes on cadmium electrode of hermetic nickel-cadmium accumulator

Description
Kinetics of electrode processes on cadmium electrode of alkaline accumulator was studied. Consideration was given to change of cadmium compound concentration in near-electrode layers of electrolyte in the course of the main current-production process, as well as to mechanism of contamination of separation materials under conditions of electrode operation as a part of a sealed accumulator. Main factors, leading to increase of cadmium compound concentration in near-electrode layers were determined. These factors are responsible for cadmium penetration into separation material, its reduction to metal with successive occurrence of interelectrode leaks and short circuits
