Contours of emission lines of inhomogeneous solar formations

  • 1. Astronomical Observatory of the Kiev State University (Ukrainian SSR)
  • 2. Komenskeho Univerzita, Bratislava (Czechoslovakia)

Description

Chromospheric flares and prominences are shown to be essentially inhomogeneous and that the theoretical profiles of these phenomena have to be calculated taking this inhomogeneity into account. In this case the observed line profiles are in accordance with the theoretical ones. The theoretical halfwidth curves of the line profiles of inhomogeneous emission formations were calculated for different relative values of turbulent velocities in order to determine optical thicknesses.
