Description
The extent to which the equations of motion for charged particles with spin, neglecting the radiation-reaction forces, follow from Maxwell equations is shown. The standard derivations depend on cutoff procedures and other prescriptions. The conclusion is that the Lorentz force and the external torque driving the spin are cutoff-independent but other forces driving the particle are not
