A computer system for neutron physics experiments

  • 1. Atomic Energy Establishment, Inshas (Egypt)

Description

The large amount of data collected in neutron physics experiments require a large storage data acquisition equipment. Due to their greater flexibility, computers are now replacing conventional multichannel analyzers. In this paper the data acquisition system built around a PDP-11 computer is described. The users requirements, computer organization, system moniter and future expansion are given. The system was planned and used by the author for neutron pulse propagation and activation studies at the URR (Universities of Manchester and Liverpool Research Reactor in England) and proved very reliable
