Description

Process Safety, the safety of processing plants, is of concern to the whole of the process industries. Process Safety consists of Hazard Identification, Hazard Assessment, and Hazard Control, together with the managerial function of Process Safety Management. This paper wills tart with a brief description of the use of Hazop to identify deviations by application of Guide Words for both continuous and batch plants. Reference will be made to a version which relies on parametric deviations and to another version, the Creative Checklist Hazop which identifies disturbances. The paper will continue with case examples from the gas processing industry. The paper will conclude with some of the benefits of Hazop Studies, including compliance with regulatory requirements
