Energy: leaving well enough alone
Description
At a time when France's energy transition policy is under debate, this article attempts to position energy issues in a comparative approach by analysing the major global balances that have been established between ecological constraints and economic realities. Given the role that energy plays in our societies today, a number of options are proposed to accelerate our transition to an eco-competitive world without upsetting those balances. In this context, gas seems to be a critical component of today's and tomorrow's energy mix, as it makes these transitions both economically viable and socially acceptable. This article refers to many of the arguments contained in the author's essay, 'Le Pari du gaz' (The Gas Challenge) published by Debats Publics
