Energy: leaving well enough alone

At a time when France's energy transition policy is under debate, this article attempts to position energy issues in a comparative approach by analysing the major global balances that have been established between ecological constraints and economic realities. Given the role that energy plays in our societies today, a number of options are proposed to accelerate our transition to an eco-competitive world without upsetting those balances. In this context, gas seems to be a critical component of today's and tomorrow's energy mix, as it makes these transitions both economically viable and socially acceptable.
