Microwave-assisted synthesis of CdWO4 by solid-state metathetic reaction

Description
Highlights: ► CdWO4 particles synthesized SSM route with microwave were well crystallized. ► They had a fine morphology with sizes of 1–3 μm. ► The exothermic heating is the driving force accompanying the formation of NaCl. ► The CdWO4 particles exhibit a strong PL emission at 480–490 nm. ► The well-resolved Raman spectra provide evidence of the highly crystallized structure. - Abstract: CdWO4 particles were synthesized using a solid-state metathetic reaction assisted by microwave irradiation. Well-crystallized CdWO4 particles formed at 400–600 °C after 3 h, showing fine and homogeneous morphologies with particle sizes of 1–3 μm. The synthesized CdWO4 particles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The optical properties were examined by photoluminescence emission and Raman spectroscopy.
