Preliminary radiological analysis of Hanford HLW core samples
Description
This paper presents a novel method of using precipitation, backwash recycle, and destruction factors to prepare a process flow sheet for the Hanford site's 300-Area Treated Effluent Disposal Facility (TEDF). The TEDF will remove heavy metals, cyanide, and organic compounds in a treatment process based on iron coprecipitation, filtration, ion exchange, and ultraviolet/hydrogen-peroxide-oxidation (uv/H2O2) technologies. For radionuclide, inorganic, and organic compounds, a computer spread sheet using factors for each component provides a method to estimate the steady-state concentrations for all flows in the process
