Description

A survey of applications of ESCA with emphasis on X-ray photoelectron spectra is given. Examples are selected to show the utility of ESCA in the fields of chemical analysis, surface analysis, chemical bonding and structure, polymers, biochemistry and correlations with reactivity. Aspects of importance for practical applications are emphasized and summarized, and the importance of cooperation between theoretical physicists and practising chemists for the further development of ESCA is commented upon.
