Radiation protection. Clothing for protection against radioactive contamination. Design, selection, testing and use
Description
The present Standard gives the characteristics of clothing protecting the wearer against radioactive contamination brought about by contact with liquid or solid substances or by atmospheric pollutants, such as solid particles, mist, gases or vapours. The Standard applies to two types of clothing: firstly, ventilated-pressurized garments; secondly, unventilated-unpressurized garments. A test method according to which any new type of garment can be assigned a protection factor that makes it easier for the user to make a choice is described. The report also gives methods for measuring leak-tightness and air supply flow rates of ventilated-pressurized garments. For guidance purposes only, recommendations for choosing protective clothing are given. 5 figs, 2 tabs

La presente norme specifie les caracteristiques des deux types de vetements de protection contre la contamination radioactive, a savoir les vetements ventiles-pressurises et les vetements non ventiles-non pressurises. Cette norme decrit egalement les methodes de mesurage de l'etancheite et du debit de l'air d'alimentation des vetements ventiles-pressurises. Elle fournit, de plus, une methode d'essai permettant au fabricant d'attribuer, a tout nouveau type de vetement ventile-pressurise, un facteur de protection facilitant le choix de l'utilisateur.
