Three-dimensional display in nuclear medicine

Description
Three-dimensional display in medical imaging allows better perception of continuity of structures and large-scale spatial relationships than does display of individual slices, yet three-dimensional displays are not routinely used in scintigraphy. Several surface and volume rendering techniques are compared using nuclear medicine data. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are discussed in relation to the goals of three-dimensional display, and new volume rendering methods are proposed for nuclear medicine images
