Results of some test measurements performed with the HANDI-TEPC around a 238Pu-Be source

Description

The HANDI-TEPC is a portable area monitor developed at the University of Homburg. The present report describes HANDI-TEPC measurements made for test purposes at CERN around a 238Pu-Be source and discusses the results obtained. The objectives of the investigation were: - to study the behaviour of the CERN HANDI-TEPC after it has been refilled, - to examine the effect of the high voltage to the proportional counter on the system's response, - to make a comparison with the results obtained with a multisphere spectrometer at identical conditions.
