The dopamine D-1 receptor: biochemical and behavioral aspects

  • 1. NOVO Industri A/S., Bagsvaerd

Description

3H-SCH 23390 is now widely used as D1 receptor ligand. The authors use 3H-SCH 23390 for D1 receptor binding in a previously described adenylate cyclase assay preparation of rat striatal membranes. The pharmacological characterization of the 3H-SCH 23390 binding are shown, as well as 3H-piflutixol and 3H-spiperone binding. 3H-SCH 23390 binding in vivo is examined, and the pharmacological characterization of 3H-SCH 23390 binding in vivo and in vitro are shown. The authors discuss DA-stimulated adenylate cyclase. Behavioral aspects of the D1 receptor are described. It is found that the 3H-SCH 23390 labelled D1 receptor is associated with a G-protein. Results from functional studies of the D1 receptor have indicated that there may exist both D2 coupled and non-coupled D1 receptors in the brain
