The unirradiated and post-irradiation creep properties of 20Cr 25Ni base alloys

  • 1. UKAEA Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Harwell. Metallurgy Div.

Description

The unirradiated and post-irradiated creep properties at 750 deg C and 75 MPa have been determined for a series of 20Cr 25Ni base alloys. It is shown that the unirradiated creep properties are dependent on the alloying additions (carbon, niobium, titanium and boron) and the heat treatment. The initial microstructures have been investigated and related to the creep properties. The general effect of irradiation was to reduce the post-irradiation creep properties by helium embrittlement but the degree of embrittlement was determined by the alloy microstructure in a complex manner.
