Geogas bubble model of radon transport and its use in depth uranium exploration

Description
A new quantitative model is presented which describes the subsurface transport of radon carried by ascending geogas microbubbles. The role of subsurface gases and water in the radon transport is discussed. Different radon concentration profiles calculated for different geological and geophysical conditions are presented. The problems of radon detection under water using track-etch technique are considered and some track density profiles measured by plastic track detectors in boreholes are shown. The possibility of revealing deep radon sources under different geological conditions is analyzed and a new method for emanation uranium exploration is proposed. (author) 8 refs.; 5 figs
