Action of certain radioprotectors on nitrogen contents in brain of irradiated rats
Description
The changes in total nitrogen, non protein nitrogen and protein nitrogen in the brain of whole body gamma irradiated rats with a dose of 7 Gy have been recorded on the first, third, seventh and tenth days pot irradiation. Total nitrogen significantly decreased by about 14 % and 16% on the 3rd and 7th days after irradiation restively. The content of non protein nitrogen significantly increased at all post irradiation days. However, om the other side gamma irradiation caused significant decreases in the content of protein nitrogen on the 3rd, 7th and 10th days post irradiation. The administration of either vitamin E al a concentration of 10 mg /100g animal body weight or urea at a concentration of 200 mg/100g body weight via intraperitoneal injiection to the white albino rats before irradiation has minimized the variation occurred in the levels of the studied parameters in the brain tissue of irradiated rats
