Lower hybrid resonance heating in a hot electron plasma
Description
Lower hybrid resonance heating of a hot electron plasma was studied both theoretically and experimentally. R.f. power was found to transfer primarily to the electrons, but when the electron absorption was decreased by increasing the electron temperature a small amount of ion heating occurred. The electron absorption characteristics are very similar to those for lower-off-resonance heating and were determined to be those of collisionless absorption in the low density region outside of the hybrid layer.
