The application of the principle of protection optimization is now a need since the principle has been understood and agreed upon by the various parts interested. However, there are a number of difficulties in its practical application: - Theoretical and methodological difficulties concerning the quantitatives evaluation of the cost of detriment. - Technical difficulties due to the poor knowledge on the right mechanisms of irradiation at the working places or in the environment

La mise en application du principe d'optimisation de la protection est une necessite maintenant que ce principe a ete compris et admis par les differents interesses. Cependant, des difficultes existent en ce qui concerne l'application dans la pratique: - Des difficultes de nature theorique et methodologique et en particulier celles relatives a l'evaluation quantitative du cout du detriment. - Des difficultes techniques, qui sont dues a l'insuffisance des connaissances sur les mecanismes exacts de l'irradiation aux postes de travail ou dans l'environnement
