Radiation pneumonitis as a complication in the aftertreatment of bronchial and mediastinal tumor patients
Description
The importance and the clinical picture of radiation pneumonitis during aftertreatment of radiation therapy in the thoracic region is pointed out and the possibility of early diagnosis and therapy is discussed. The analysis of results obtained from 170 patients with bronchial and mediastinal tumors revealed pneumonitis and fibrosis in 12% of cases. This value is in the lower range of frequency cited in literature. (author)
