Starting point distribution of high energy cascade showers
Description
A quantity Δt - a difference between expected and observed depths with maximum development of cascade shower - is investigated. Δt's are derived using simulated transition curves with spacing and Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal effects. The Δt distribution of the Chiron-type event 'C19S47I17' shows an absence of the data around 0.5 c.u. in depth of Pb and a shift of the mean toward greater depths. Experimental biases are not found to explain the observed shift of the mean Δt of 'C19S47I17'. (author)
