Description
The interplay of collective and non-collective modes in 140Ce is studied via comparison of available data with results of the quasiparticle-phonon model (QPM). Lifetime values have been checked in the 140La decay using delayed βγ coincidences. The half-life of the Jπ 41+ level is confirmed as T1/2(2083.6 keV) 3.3 ± 0.2 ns and upper limits of 0.1-0.2 ns are estimated for other levels. Extensive calculations within the QPM are carried out including one-, two-and three-phonon components in the wavefunctions. Comparisons to other N = 82 nuclei are also made as well. (author)
