Assessment and interpretation of the results of pore water chemistry calculations and of the model of erosion of bentonite from the Rokle site
Description
A geochemical model enabling pore water chemistry of compacted bentonite to be calculated. The model calculations were focussed both on the composition of the 'initial' pore water of compacted bentonite (equilibration of bentonite and distilled water) and on pore water after equilibration with real groundwater. A simple sensitivity analysis showed that the compacted bentonite pore water composition is most affected by the solid-to-liquid phase ratio selected. The composition of two selected groundwater types appeared to be less important. (P.A.)
