Description
The shape of the beta strength function Ssub(β) in neutron-rich nuclei is discussed. The structure of Ssub(β) is calculated microscopically for the Gamow-Teller β-decay of 236238Pa and is shown to be decisive for the β-delayed fission probability Psub(βDF). Without including this structure no reliable determinations of fission barrier heights can be made from measured Psub(βDF) values. (Auth.)
