Formulation of a model for spontaneous fission of heavy nuclei
Description
A simplified model has been formulated to study the effects of friction on the charge distribution (CD) yields in the fission process. Newton's equation of motion with friction force was used to calculate the scission time which is friction-depedent. A Gaussian distribution was used as an initial distribution. The resulting CD yields were Gaussian distributions with different widths and amplitudes compared with the initial one. The calculations have been carried out for the spontaneous fission of U-236. 2 tabs.; 27 figs.; 46 refs
