Design and realization of a protection system for nuclear spectrometry equipment

In a spectrometry system, the quality and accuracy of the measurement are depending on the performance of the detector, which is very sensitive to temperature and need to be handled and polarized properly. The aim of this work is to design and propose a programmable electronic system to control and automatically setting-up of the high voltage for polarization of the detector. Comparison of experimental results from the programmable and the standard spectrometry system shows that the weakness, due to the non-linearity of applied High Voltage (41,77% at full scale, compared to 23,6% for the standard processing) is acceptable if considering the main advantage of having more secured and protected protocol for handling of the detector.
