Method for making oriented bismuth and thallium superconductors comprising cold pressing at 700 MPA

Description

This patent describes a method for making an oriented superconducting material, it comprises: cold pressing a nonoriented superconducting material selected form the group consisting of Bi1, Bi2, Tl1, Tl2, Pb substituted Bi1, Pb substituted bi2, Pb substituted Tl1, and Pb substituted Tl2 superconductor materials at a pressure of at least about 700 MPa to form an oriented superconducting material that has a ratio of x-ray refection intensity from the (0010) plane to the reflection intensity from the (105) plane of 1.6 or greater
