Humerical solution of an inverse problem for the MHD-plasma equilibrium

Description
The class of inverse problems, determining equilibrium plasma configurations in tokamaks by the data on magnetic measurements outside a plasma filament, is considered. Problem peculiarities, arising in designing installations with plasma confinement, by an ideal conducting casing and with the given external magnetic field, are discussed. Calculational algorithms for magnetic field extension into a vacuum region are suggested; it permits to find the unknown boundary of the plasma filament. A new problem on propagation of a longitudinal electric current inside the plasma, consisting in finding the unknown nonlinear right part of an elliptical equation, is considered. Certain results of model calculations, demonstrating possibilities of the numerical methods described, are presented
