FEMRZ: program for solving two-dimensional neutron transport problems in cylindrical geometry by the finite element method

Description
A computer program based on the finite element method has been developed for solving multi-group neutron transport problems in two-dimensional cylindrical (r,z) geometry. In the solution algorithm, the method of higher order finite elements has been applied to the spatial variables on reactangular (r,z) subregions. It is based on the discontinuous method with Galerkin-type scheme. Some calculational examples are given for a guide to practical applications. The results and discussions are given in comparison with the S sub(n) method to illustrate the effectiveness of FEMRZ. It is seen that FEMRZ solutions obtained from the biquadratic approximation are accurate and stable enough even for the considerably coarse meshes. (auth.)
