Description
The problem of detecting a Higgs boson with MH≅MZ in e+e- collisions at ECM=200 GeV is investigated. We show that although the number of signal events from e+e-→ZH is smaller than the number of background events from e+e-→ZZ, the angular distribution of the leptons from Z decay in the final state is sufficiently different in the two cases that the presence of a Higgs signal can, with a sufficiently large event sample, be detected. We estimate that an integrated luminosity of order 10 fb-1 will be sufficient to extend the Higgs discovery limit through and beyond the Z mass region. (orig.)
