L X-ray Production Cross Sections for Proton Impact on Fe, Cu, Zn, and Ge

  • 1. Physics Department, Creighton University, Omaha, NE 68178 (United States)

Description

L x-rays excited by 50-minus;300 keV protons impacting thick targets of Fe, Cu, Zn, and Ge were measured with a high-resolution Si(Li) detector equipped with an ultra-thin window. Ll,η, Lα,β1, and Lβ3,4 x-ray yields were derived from peak-fitting analysis of the measured x-ray spectra. The corresponding L1 and L2+L3 sub-shell cross sections were compared with predictions of the ECPSSR theory.
